President's Column

Written by Dave Arieno,

Greetings fellow Fourwheelers,

Attendance and membership has grown by leaps and bounds this year! I’m happy to report out membership is stronger than ever. The comraderie and can-do attitudes are infectious. We are growing closer as a group and are pitching in to help build each other’s rigs. I hope this is just the start of better things to come!

It's almost BREAK UP!!! We need to discuss required safety and trail equipment for our upcoming “high season”. Let's talk some trail runs folks! Remember, it's your club, make it the best you can.

Dues payment!

The consensus is: Dues will run for one year from the date they were paid. The president/treasurer will track payments in the club database and inform members when their annual dues need to be renewed.

We continue to discuss a better venue for our club meetings. I’ve received many suggestions, and I have a few of my own. I’ll call the various locations and try to assess the possibilities. I’ll bring the results to the March 28th club meeting. Hopefully we can vote on the new location then.

"Tech" inspection was discussed. ). Kurt Hala has offered to let us use his shop on a weekend to make this happen! We need to finalize the date for this. (May was suggested). Don't want any unsafe vehicles on trail runs, or breakage that could have been prevented!

Required safety, and recommended trail equipment/spares list.
Some suggestions:

Fire extinguisher
First Aid kit
Winch
Hi-Lift Jack
Spare Tire
Tow hooks
Snatch Strap
Tree Saver strap
Snatch block
Water
Engine oil
ATF
Gear oil
Anti-Freeze
Spare plug wire
Spare coil wire
Fuel pump (Mechanical or electric depending...)
Fan Belts
ETC.....ETC....ETC

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
We discussed using club funds to purchase an ARB snatch-block for our next raffle. I contact Ed Angel and make this a reality.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "Buddy" plan! This is a great idea for our new members.

Inexperienced members would be paired with our veteran members to ensure safety, proper trail technique, and boost confidence level. Let's have fun out there!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Radio communication! We run a combination of CB's and the new FRS hand-held radios. Let’s make sure you have one or the other….
