Meeting Minutes, December 20th

It was a "warm" winter evening for our last club meeting of 2001.  In attendance was an unusual number of newer members (which certainly isn't a bad thing), and the food was all too typical.  With the absence of our Fearless Leader, a fellow who not too long ago volunteered "hey, I know a little HTML" conducted the meeting.  The topics discussed were:

  • Winter 'get together' (again)
  • Possible inter-club competition (again)
  • Next Trail Run

With a low turnout no more discussion on the winter get together was made.  As it stands, its scheduled for January 12th, 2002.  The details on exactly when and what preparations must be made can be dealt with at the January 6 meeting.  If not the idea will be shelved.

As mentioned in the below December 6th meeting minutes, the Last Frontier Four Wheelers are pursuing a casual off road competition idea.  They are planning on putting this (low key) event on this summer, and we are welcome to participate and aid in planning and/or pre-running.  If you would like to get involved, offer ideas, or participate please email myself or Dave.  We will be in communication with the Last Frontier Four Wheelers and will pass along your ideas, or get you into the planning if you desire.

The next trail run is scheduled for Saturday, December 22nd to Buffalo Mine.  See calendar for details.

Our next meeting is January 3rd, 2002.  Have a safe and Happy Holidays.

Meeting Minutes, December 6th

Club meeting was held December 6th.  Looked like a few new members this time; its good to see membership growing even during the winter months.  The topics discussed were:

  • Winter 'get together'
  • Possible inter-club competition
  • Next Trail Run

As mentioned at the last meeting, some members expressed interest in the idea of a club get together sometime this winter.  It was decided a pseudo Christmas type get together maybe difficult since everyone may be busy this month.  It is now tentatively scheduled for the second weekend of January, and is posted on our calendar.  If anyone would like to volunteer to help collect/drag fire for a bonfire, let us know at the next meeting.  Specific details on where and when to come.

A couple years ago the idea of an off road competition was explored by the club.  It was decided at that time the necessary measures to make the event happen were more trouble that they were worth.  Between insurance, logistics, and land use problems, the idea was shelved.  It was decided in order to make such an event happen, it would have to be done low-key.  This means no money exchanging hands, club members open, and the public would not be invited.  While the events would most likely take place on public land and therefore no one could be denied access to the event, no public advertising would take place.  Currently, the Last Frontier Four Wheelers are pursuing the idea of a similar event.  They have opened their planning to other clubs/people, to let anyone with ideas and interest to potentially become involved.  This topic was brought up at tonight's meeting, at this time most members seemed apathetic.  Perhaps more information is needed before anyone can decide weather they would or would not like to be involved.  A meeting is planned with the Last Frontier Four Wheelers on this topic, more information to follow.

There will be a trail run this Sunday (December 9th, 2001).  Meeting place is Palmer Tesoro at 10am, trail is Permanente.  Trail run is posted on our calendar.

Our next meeting is December 20th.  Side note:  I am guessing that many members are using the winter time to build/add/upgrade their vehicles, or even sell or buy different rigs.  If the information under the Member's Rigs section is no longer current for you, feel free to email me updates and/or corrections on your vehicles.  Be sure to include your name in the email unless your email address makes it clear.  Thanks.

Small Webpage updates

The Members Rigs page has been updated.  Two things were done, Cole Wininger's CJ-5 was added, and some pictures were deleted.  Recently web space has become a concern, making it necessary for me to do my part and trim down the club website.  I decided to start with the members' rigs pictures, and not delete any pictures from the club runs.  I apologize to those who now have less pictures of their vehicle on the web site.  The pictures will be re-added in the future when space allows.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Announcement and Meeting Minutes

Announcement: The next meeting will be December 6th.  Our next regularly scheduled meeting would have conflicted with Thanksgiving.  See calendar for clarification.

Another club meeting was held November 8th, at the usual place.  There was a good turnout for a winter meeting.  The idea of going to monthly meetings was raised, but was not decided on.  For now, the bi-weekly meetings will continue (except as noted above).  Interest in a winter run was also expressed by some members, but nothing formal was scheduled.

Lastly, our president suggested a winter club 'get together' (could also be considered a Christmas party).  The idea had some interest, and Joe Wininger was kind enough to offer use of some property he owns for a bonfire.  If you would like to help in planning, offer more suggestions, or find out more information, email myself or Dave Arieno.  As well, come to the next club meeting; scheduling for this winter 'get together' will be finalized.

As mentioned above, the club's next meeting is scheduled for December 6th.

Red Mountain Picture Gallery Finally Posted

I had some technical difficulties a while back, and was unable to get this batch of pictures posted.  Jerry Hermann sent the pictures into me, of a club run to Red Mountain.

I have not received significant meeting minutes from the past few meetings, so I apologize for neglecting to write anything up.  The only thing of interest I heard was the idea of reducing the frequency of meetings during the winter months for obvious reasons.  I'll make sure to update the calendar when/if an official decision is reached.

August 30th Meeting, and web update

Jerry Hermann (the unofficial club photographer at this point), has provided us with more pictures from the last outing.  A new gallery was added from the Hicks Lake trail run.

Summary of meeting on the 30th of August.

  • Trail Run news
  • Park Clean-up

Finally the club made it to Hatcher's Pass without incident.  The trail run was a success, except for Dave Wheeler's alternator taking a dump.

The city was pleased with out park clean-up efforts at Valley Street Park at the previous meeting.  Congratulations to those who attended.

The next club meeting will be September 13th, at Sicily's Pizza, corner of Northern Lights Blvd. and Muldoon Rd.
