News Archive, November through December

To all who turned out for the Christmas party,      Thanks for contributing for a great outing!  The food and atmosphere were great, and the comraderie was high!  I'd like to take this moment to thank all those who contributed foo, time, effort and gifts, and fellowship.  We pulled together and made it happen.  A special thanks goes out to Pat Brown.  Were it not for Pat, we might not have had the great location for the Party.  He busted his butt to ensure we booked the Lodge, get folks signed on to Ft. Richardson, and more.  He deserves special recognition from all of us!   Thanks Pat!     Another special thanks goes out to the "Turkey Man", Brian Thomas.  There was a fair amount of logistics and expense involved in getting the birds, fryers and equipment, 15 gallons of oil, and ultimately, the deep fried, Krispy Kritters to us at the party.  Hats off to ya,  Brian!   PS..  next year...  Somebody bring a REAL carving knife...  heheheheh and... The 'roadless rule' that was created at the end of Clinton's presidency, and opposed by the Bush administration was once again in the news in our local newspaper.  Justice department lawyers have now stated that environmental groups who want to challenge the Wyoming judge's decision against the roadless rule.  For more information, read Justice lawyers oppose challenge of roadless rule.

Our second meeting of November went later than usual.  There lots of discussion on some old and new topics which is a good thing.  I have added minutes from the meeting to the Archive section, and they can be found directly here.

A couple more articles out of the local newspaper have been added to the Archive section.   The article Committee nixes language barring rights of way from bill discusses how language was removed from a bill that would have prevented states from gaining right or way access on federal lands.  After the trails conference last month, Craig Medred gives his summary of what the important issues brought up during the conference were in On the wrong path?.  Motorized use and abuse on Alaska trails is specifically mentioned.
