There are a number of things currently happening, both
events and trail projects in the near future and news about land
access. I have included them in this update, in no particular order.

The
Mat-Su Borough is in need of volunteer labor for trail improvements on
the Plumley-Maud Trail. In 2004 the Borough was awarded $20k in
Recreational Trails Grant money for trail enhancements on the trail.
The Plumley-Maud Trail is an ATV trail in the Butte area that connects
Plumley Road and Maud Road. The trail will remain limited to ATVs
after the enhancements which include installation of geo-block, geo-web, and
other trail hardening techniques. They will be working on the trail
with volunteer labor every weekend starting April 23 and ending June
5. If you would like to get involved please contact Bruce
Paulsen or Warren Templin
with the Mat-Su Borough to find when and how you can help. This will
be a good opportunity to give back to the local community and learn about
the installation and use of trail hardening techniques.
On
March 23, 2005 an article posted on KTUU.com
about opening areas off of the "Haul Road" to motorized use.
Please see Bill would
open Dalton Highway to Off-road Activities for the complete story.
